What is Reflexology?
Reflexology, also known as Zone Therapy, involves the application of varying degrees of pressure to hands and feet without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a pseudoscientific system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the hands and feet.
There are over 7200 nerve endings in the feet. The application of pressure on these areas can provide pain relief and stress reduction. It is not massage, but an alternative treatment methodology that has been practiced since ancient Egyptian and Asian cultures.
Communication between the client and provider are essential to maximize the benefits of the treatment.
Benefits may include:
-
Deeper sleep
-
Detoxification
-
Improved digestion
-
Breakdown of congestion and inflammation
-
Increased cell function
-
Improved mobility and flexibility
Introducing your Provider
Carol Massey has always been interested in medical care and health. As a child she would read medical journals and trace/sketch anatomical drawings. However, her education led her to the business side of health care. For forty years she worked as a healthcare and hospital administrator.
Being introduced to the therapeutic benefits of alternative treatments early in her adulthood, she relied on chiropractic, massage, and reflexology to enhance and support her health and well-being. In 2020 she had an opportunity to study reflexology at The Health Center in Atlanta, Georgia, under the leadership of Roz Zollinger, an internationally renowned health educator, specializing in complementary medicine therapies.
She continues to study reflexology and related therapies to enhance her knowledge and services.
